Susanna Flock Cardio Opening: Thursday, 28. 04. 2022 Exhibition: 29. 04. - 21. 05. 2022 Programme: Artist Talk and sugar glass casting with Susanna Flock, Saturday, 14th May In her solo exhibition Cardio Susanna Flock explores collective breaking points; controlled ruptures, planned harm, intended vulnerability and patchwork identities. The central work of the exhibition is the video piece "Building A.I out of Clay". The main protagonist is Frankenstein's monster as a CGI animation, evidently affected by an identity crisis. In an associative approach, Flock examines the traces left by the intertwining of technology and everyday life. Digital technologies emerged through the labour economies of late capitalism and are, in Flock's work, always regarded in that context. An essential starting point of her artistic practice are internet phenomena, which are mostly negotiated in the form of video installation. Susanna Flock graduated from the Kunstuniversität Linz in 2015 and from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Wien in 2017. Most recently, she was awarded the Pixel, Bytes and Film Scholarship (2020), the Viktor Fogarassy Prize (2019), a residency at the Rote Fabrik Zurich (2019), a start-up scholarship for media art from the Bundeskanzleramt Österreich (2018) and a scholarship from the Akademie Schloss Solitude Stuttgart (2018). She is a member of the collective Total Refusal since 2020. www.susannaflock.net www.forumstadtpark.at |
